Whoop-a-dee-doo [Nov. 5th, 2008|01:50 am]
So the final numbers don't appear to be in yet, but judging from exit polling, Californians care more about expanding the freedoms of livestock than maintaining the civil rights of queer people.

Oh Frabjous day. Calloo, callay.

Dangerous modes of interfloor travel [Aug. 28th, 2008|10:15 pm]
[mood |chipperchipper]

A random thought occurred to me while I stood in the parking garage of my apartment complex pondering the choice of indulging my laziness and utilizing the elevator, or pretending that I am health conscious individual and traversing the floors via the stairs. I said to myself "once the elevator reaches the bottom floor, if I stick around I run the risk of a giant mutated zombie velociraptor leaping from the elevator through the opening door to feast upon my entrails. The risk doubles when you consider that upon reaching the elevator's destination (possibly several more times the chance if the elevator stops on multiple floors) there is yet the chance that there will be ANOTHER giant mutated zombie velociraptor waiting for the doors to open. There are no such surprises whilst walking up a flight of stairs

Now hypothetically speaking what if I managed to fight off the first giant mutated zombie velociraptor, could I really weather another such vicious attack upon exiting the elevator? I would argue that the answer is a resounding "no." Assuming that in an adrenaline-filled berserker rage I managed to jam my work-issued Lenovo T-61 down the beast's throat in a forcefully induced seppaku of epic ninja proportions, I would be left drained and exhausted from the temporary adrenaline high, and therefore easy pickings for the next creature waiting for me on the third floor.

I decided to take the stairs.

plural people [Mar. 12th, 2008|12:45 am]
One of my close friends just told me that they are plural, can anyone point me to good resources for researching this, or perhaps common terminology to google? Most everything that I see seems to be clinical, and based specifically on DID, which according to wikipedia, is also associated with loss of memory while the non standard personas are active. My friend doesn't have that as they claim to "share," so I assume that many other people that identify as plural don't fit under a clinical term.

I guess I am looking for something that is more in a "their own experiences" kind of format so I can get a solid grip on understanding their situation better and not accidently saying anything that they might find offensive.

Powerful words [Mar. 2nd, 2008|10:11 pm]
While spending some time at my parents house today, I was sitting and talking with my dad and he said something that caught me by surprise, "we're proud of you."

Now, I've always known that my father loves me, but I haven't heard him say that he was proud of me since I was a teenager. Infact, for a few years now I've felt that he was ashamed of me. I don't think he realized the significance of his words, but they were powerful indeed.

Nonsensical idiots... [Oct. 4th, 2007|03:50 pm]
And here is yet another reason why I am scared of far right conservatives (especially the women).

http://amnation.com/vfr/archives/008277.html

Never before have I read people trying to academically rationalize removing the political rights of women. Even more disgusting are the women bred through their religion that believe they have a specific role that all women should be placed in. Those mindless cattle ready to sign away their life and liberty to be little more than a possession sicken me.

I am all for religion as a practicing Christian myself, but biblical laws are no longer applicable to our times, and trying to bring us back to "tradition" using the excuse that women in politics are the cause for the downfall of our society and others before it...it is a misogynistic perversion

Hook, line, and sinker. [Jan. 19th, 2007|02:33 pm]
A smell just wafted into my cubicle that is so overpowering that it's scary, and I have no idea where it is coming from.

It smells like...powerbait.

Electro-bitch [Jan. 19th, 2007|11:05 am]
[mood |frustratedfrustrated]

Aaaarg! This is driving me insane! For the last week I have been generating some fierce static shock. Everytime I get up from my desk and touch something I get shocked. Someone even gave me half of an orange, and the moment I touched the orange *ZAP*. I'm afraid to touch things!

No one around me is having a static issue. I wonder if it has to do with my thick hair or something

*Thwip* [Jan. 9th, 2007|01:26 pm]
[mood |energeticenergetic]

I stopped by the unholy amalgamation of retail videogame sales known as Electronic Funcabbages Etc. and decided that the price on Ultamate Spider-man and Spider-man 2 have plummeted enogh to be worth the risk of dissapointment.

For a $14 game, I am AMAZED with Ultimate Spider-man. It keeps the feel of the comic series, with a free-roaming manhattan, and is the first game where Venom is not only playable...but he is done justice.

In this game, Spider-man is not able to just swing anywhere he pleases, he has to be below the tops of the buildings for his webbing to hit something! (Thats right, he isn't attaching his weblines to clouds, passing airplanes, or making a web parachute at one end to swing from!) So far my only boss fight has been with The Rhino, and I was almost shaking from the cool factor.

The Ultimate Spider-man series and the Ultimate Spider-man game fit so perfectly together. Go out and get this game!

The death of my favorite singing telegram. [Dec. 19th, 2006|08:15 pm]
[mood |amusedamused]

One of my friends, David, left a singing telegram on my cell phone's voicemail once. I saved it and listend to it several times over the period of a few months. It was the most hilarious voicemail I had ever received.

I think the lyrics to the "song" were "Megan its Dave, pickup the phone so I can tell you stuff! Call me back"

I tried to find the voicemail the other day, but apparently the retention period of the voicemail ended. Now I am sad.

On a completely seperate note. Jamaican showers are very interesting, in a good way :)

(no subject) [Sep. 11th, 2006|01:02 pm]
[mood |bitchybitchy]

So I didn't realize that today was the aniversary of 9/11 until I turned on the radio, and people were having their minute of silence, and others were talking about their experience at the sit of the attack, and even more gave us a play by play of how they watched the TV. Maybe I'm just a heartless beast, but seriously people, remembering 9/11, and worshipping it are completely different. I'm surprised some of these people haven't built shrines yet!

Perhaps it is the conspiracy theorist in me, but I don't believe 9/11 was a terrorist act at all. Where was the wreckage of the plane that crashed before hitting its target? Oh thats right! There was none, just a big crater in the ground where the plane should be. A hole in the pentagon that was much smaller than a plane, and blurry images of planes crashing into the world trade center towers. I'll leave it at that and let others do their own research.

On a completely seperate and unrelated note, I was just reminded of a pet peeve of mine while driving to get lunch. I HATE bumper stickers that say to share the road with bikes. You know, last time I checked I'm not the one riding 20 miles per hour so close to the center of the 35mph road that the cars behind me have to slow down until the road becomes a 2-lane street. I have yet to meet a polite biker that gets out of their way for a car. It's like they feel entitled to take up the entire road.
